Packing for Hospital
As the big day gets closer and closer the nerves often get bigger, the excitement gets greater and then you stop to ask yourself - am I ready? You have set up the nursery, you have organised all your essential baby needs, now it is time to pack your bag for the hospital. Try to pack your bags around the 34 weeks of pregnancy mark as some bubs like to come early. If you take something out of your bag leave a note in the bag reminding you or your partner that it is missing and to put it back.
My first piece of advice is to speak with the hospital/birthing centre to see what they provide. Some hospitals provide all your bubs necessities whilst in hospital. Then work out what you need. Here are a few items that you may require.
Packing for Hospital For Bub:· Nappies
· Nappy wipes
· Singlets (6)
· Jumpsuits (6)
· Baby wash
· Wraps
· A special outfit for coming home
· Bottles and formula (for bottle feed babies)
Packing for Hospital For You:· 2-3 sets of Pyjamas
· Comfortable clothes should you wish to change out of you pyjamas during the day (remember if you are breast feeding to wear tops that have easy access or are loose).
· Socks
· Slippers
· Toiletries
· 2-3 packets of Sanitary pads (maternity pads)
· Breast pads
· Maternity bras
· Comfortable underwear (at least 6)
· Phone numbers of your family and friends
· A box of tissues
· Lip balm
· Don’t forget the camera (make sure the batteries are charged!) Other items that you may want to pack for hospital for during Labour:· Drinks and snacks
· Massage oil
· Hair clips/ties to keep your hair off your face during labour
· Music
· Face washer or flannel
· Heat/Cold Packs
· A change of clothes for your partner (including boxers or swimmers in case they help you in the shower)
